DIY School Colour Fun Run or Athon – Why using a online platform like Go Raise It might be worth your while

Sometimes if a school has a tech savvy parent or they have worked with a provider previously that has high fees (in some cases 40-50%) they consider using a DIY option next time around.

 

At Go Raise It, we pride ourselves on offering an exemplary, safe, specialised school fundraising solution for a fraction of the cost of other industry options. We are often close in % fee to DIY all things considered, however offer a much, much more comprehensive and thus safe and effective fundraising solution to our school clients.

1) Fine-tuned and customised for schools and their community

Based on feedback from schools, communities and their governing organisations across Australia and New Zealand we have built numerous custom features into the platform that you won’t find out of the box on other platforms when doing it yourself. These include extra cyber security features like:

  • Avatar picker so no personal images can be loaded
  • Privacy/Hidden profiles – no click through from leaderboards to students fundraising pages
  • Random URL generators so student names don’t appear in the fundraisers website page address (URL) making them easily guessable by others
  • Targeted advice and guidance for parents around cyber security as part of the sign-up process

We also have the fantastic features of multiple leaderboard options – classes, syndicates, houses, individual leader boards are optional too. With a Go Raise It campaign you can even choose an averaged leaderboard which means you can award your class prizes based on the average funds raised per student dependent on the size of their class, perfect for equitable fundraising regards when class prizes can differ so much.

2) Easy to use Team picker

In consultation with our school partners we have customised our technology platform to make this super easy! Many other DIY options have a much more complex approach to adding and selecting a team which detracts from the user experience (and takes alot longer).

3) Your own help desk

We know our school fundraising teams are usually made up of volunteers and have very little time – our help desk takes away all the questions and queries that come with an online platform and payment system. Running a fundraiser on the Go Raise It platform means your community (parents and donors) can email us any time with technical difficulties and our team will deal with the issues and get back to them within 1 working day. Our team deal with all queries including Stripe payment disputes where donors might have made a mistake and file a claim or they may have donated twice or even donated to the wrong fundraiser.

4) Fundraising Manager Portal

Our custom built fundraising portal includes easy to use reports to see lists of your fundraisers to support things like spot prize draws throughout your fundraiser including use of our very popular ‘spinning wheel’ for live prize draws to help super charge your fundraising!

5) Communication Templates

We take care of your communication templates (we create your student letter that goes home to families, social media posts etc),

6) Tried and tested Incentives/Prizes and ‘How to’ Guides – you also get access to our incentives ideas/guides (which are an awesome selection of ideas from what other schools have done) and we can assist you with planning for those. You can also look through our ‘How To’ guides for ideas on other fundraisers you may not have run before. Our team also send you a full campaign plan to assist with the fundraising, provide a welcome planning call and also provide a help desk for all supporter/fundraiser queries. ( We also kick start your fundraiser with a spot prize pack at no charge ).

7) No Stripe setup required

To use the a number of out of the box solutions, you will need to setup a Stripe account to connect to the platform. This can sometimes be quite a long process so definitely make sure you get that underway quickly if you do not have a school Stripe account already. There is no need to do this with the Go Raise It platform as we handle processing all funds and then pay you out your profits within 7 working days of your fundraiser closing to a verified school bank account.

 

Our fees at 10%+GST of your donations are highly competitive for the full service package we provide. This fee includes everything and you will not pay any other fees. Our solution is designed to help maximise your fundraising by increasing engagement and sign up within your school community.

With one popular DIY option you will pay your Stripe fees only – the % payable will be variable and depend on your donation sizes. Stripe’s fee is currently 1.7% + 30 cents for an Australian registered card. On a $10 donation this will be 64 cents ( or 6.4% of the donation). Note: International cards have a higher fee.

** Please note: Go Raise It also asks supporters to optionally top up their donations to help with processing and platform fees. This optional top-up helps us keep our fees as low as possible at 10%+GST for the service we provide.
